Area & City/Town Introduction (Uji City)
Uji City is located halfway between Kyoto and Nara, borders cities such as Otsu in Shiga Prefecture, and offers easy access to both Kyoto and Osaka. The Uji River flows through the center of the city, offering a picturesque natural environment. It is also a town rich in historical charm, home to numerous shrines and temples, including the World Heritage Site Byodo-in Temple and Uji-kami Shrine. Its specialty product, “Uji tea,” is widely recognized as a high-quality tea, and recently, sweets made with Uji matcha have also gained popularity.
