主要产业为第一产业，尤其是水产业，除了水产公司的大型定置网捕捞以及个体渔民的延绳钓、单竿钓等捕捞渔业外，还包括“鰤鱼”和“鲷鱼”等养殖渔业，培育型渔业也并行开展。自古以来，在本町定置网中捕获的鰤鱼，作为“伊根鰤”，被列为日本三大鰤鱼之一。
