Tsubakisaka Community Development Center
Built as a community hub amidst the terraced rice fields and named with the hope that it would serve as a “place of encounters”—inspired by a legend from the *Yamato Monogatari* of the Heian period—this facility serves as a convenient stop for strolling and exploring historic sites. You can relax and unwind in its rustic farmhouse-style building.
The “Ide Town Community Development Center Tsubakisaka” was built as a hub for community development amid the terraced rice fields and is operated by a local community development organization.
Right next to the building lies the picturesque slope known as “Tsubakisaka,” which inspired the center’s name. A legend recorded in the *Yamato Monogatari* tells of a man and woman who, after being separated, reunited on this slope during the Heian period; the name was chosen to embody the idea of a “place of encounters.”
The center is situated along the “Yamase Old Road” and other walking trails where you can enjoy nature and history, and historic sites such as Tamagawa—famous for its cherry blossoms—as well as Jizo Zen-in Temple and Komachi-zuka are right nearby. Please stop by to use it as a base for your walks and tours of historic sites. We invite you to relax and unwind in our cozy, farmhouse-style building.

Area & City/Town Introduction (Ide Town)
Ide Town is a small town located between the two ancient capitals of Kyoto and Nara. Although it is in the suburbs—just 15 minutes from Nara Station and 30 minutes from Kyoto Station on the JR Nara Line—a clear, pristine stream flows through the town center, and The embankments on both banks are lined with cherry blossoms, goldenbell flowers, and other seasonal blooms that add color throughout the year. On early summer nights, Genji fireflies dance in the air, preserving a strong sense of the tranquil scenery found in the lush rural hills that surround the town. It is a beautiful town that has long been famous as a subject of poetry, dating back to the Nara period.
