Hands-On Workshop on How to Brew Delicious Tea
You'll learn how to brew tea using a teapot.
Let's enjoy the unique flavor of sencha—a taste quite different from that of bottled tea or tea bags.
This is the most popular activity in Wazuka Town all year round. While plastic bottles and tea bags have become widespread in recent years, and many homes no longer have teapots, the delicious flavor of carefully brewed sencha tea can soothe even the driest of hearts. Enjoy the delicious tea from Wazuka Town, where the terrain is ideal for growing sencha and where tea has been cultivated since the Edo period. While listening to a tea instructor explain the brewing process, you’ll try your hand at brewing the tea yourself.

Area & City/Town Introduction (Wazuka Town)
Wazuka Town, the main production area for Uji tea, is home to the “satoyama”—a traditional Japanese rural landscape of mountains and valleys—where villages are scattered throughout the valleys at the foot of the mountains, through which clear streams flow. The tea leaves produced in Wazuka Town account for about half of all tea produced in Kyoto Prefecture, and due to their quality, they are considered one of the nation’s premier high-grade teas.
In addition to Wazuka tea, painstakingly cultivated by local tea farmers, visitors can enjoy tea-picking experiences, tea-brewing workshops, walks through the tea fields, tours of “power spots” said to feature trees over 1,300 years old, and sweets made with Wazuka tea.
We also recommend the “Green Slow Mobility” tour, where a knowledgeable driver takes you in an electric vehicle to the beautiful tea fields of Ishidera while providing commentary on Wazuka Town’s history and tea cultivation, as well as exploring the area by rental bicycle.
At Yubune MTB LAND, where you can enjoy mountain biking through vast forested hills, there are courses suitable for beginners, and bicycles and other equipment are available for rent.
We have a wide variety of experiential activities available. Please come visit “Wazuka, the Land of Tea.”
