Sōen Kyōyuan Yantan
Now open as a tourism and community hub in Ujitawara Town, the birthplace of green tea!
Operated by residents dedicated to revitalizing the area, this center aims to promote the region associated with “Nagatani Sōen,” who developed the green tea production method. In addition to tourism guidance and highlights of local attractions provided by residents with insider knowledge, the center offers a wealth of experiences showcasing Ujitawara Town’s charm—including hands-on tea-related programs and the sale of local products, such as teas proudly produced by local tea farmers.
In the café area, you can enjoy tea and homemade sweets, and on weekends, you can savor a lunch made with plenty of local ingredients.
Opened in June 2018 as a hub for tourism and community exchange in Ujitawara Town, the birthplace of green tea!
It is run by local residents working to revitalize the community, with the goal of boosting Yuyadani—a place associated with “Nagaya Sōen,” who developed the green tea production method during the Edo period.
In addition to tourist information and highlights shared by locals, the center offers a wealth of experiences showcasing the charms of Ujitawara Town, including hands-on tea programs and sales of local products—such as teas proudly produced by local tea farmers.
At the “Avanzu Kitchen” café, you can enjoy tea and homemade sweets, and on weekends, a lunch featuring plenty of locally sourced ingredients.
